BEGINNER FRIENDLY
Worked in a super chunky yarn and size O (12mm) crochet hook, this is a great project if you’re just starting out in crochet.
However, if you’ve been crocheting for a while I’m guessing that you’ll still enjoy this pattern as there’s only one row to repeat, so it’s a relaxing project for you.
You’ll love how quickly it works up too!

YARN USED
I opted to use James C. Brett Huggable which is made from 100% super soft polyester.
I really enjoyed working with this yarn and I was delighted with my finished blanket – it’s so cosy, snuggly and VERY squishy!
The yarn is not only super soft, but it’s lightweight too, which is a nice surprise given that it’s a super bulky yarn.
I also love the fact that it’s really easy to work with and has great stitch definition – if you’re a beginner you’ll especially appreciate this.
ADORABLE BABY SET
This super chunky crochet baby blanket is part of a set (see photo below).
There’s a matching hoodie (with bear ears), a cute beanie (with ears and earflaps) and some adorable baby booties.
All of these other items are made with a chunky yarn and J (6mm) hook and, as with this blanket, they’re all mainly worked using the wide half double crochet stitch (working your stitches in the spaces in between each stitch).
They can all be worked up in no time and would make such lovely gifts for a new arrival or baby shower.

PATTERN NOTES
- US crochet terms used
- This blanket can be made in any size: To begin, chain any number of stitches.
- 1-row pattern repeat (repeat row 2)
- In this pattern you will work your half double crochets in the spaces in between each stitch (as opposed to crocheting through the top of each stitch).
- the ch1 turning chain does not count as the first stitch of the next row. Therefore, you should make the first half double crochet of the row in the first space (at the base of the ch1).
- The blanket is completely reversible.
- A video tutorial is provided (see above).
